09/06/26 - NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CLUB
3 min read

New Members
With 27 people, 5 brand new
members plus 1 feline in
attendance, it was certainly
a busy evening at Warndon Chess Club last night..
A friendly cat wandered in from the street and promptly made itself at home. The feline guest spent from 7pm-10pm at the club, receiving plenty of attention from our members. Several players found themselves sharing their seats, with the cat appearing quite content to sit on laps and observe the chess.
We would like to thank all 5 of our new human members for joining us and hope to see them again soon. The same invitation, of course, extends to our four-legged visitor, who appears to have taken a keen interest in Warndon Chess Club.
New Match Equipment
We are pleased to announce
that the club has invested in
the purchase of 6 high quality
new wooden chess boards, which will be used exclusively for club matches, internal rated games and other special events. These should arrive for next week.
The new boards provide a far sturdier and more professional playing surface than our existing boards and will help ensure that visiting teams and members alike enjoy the best possible playing conditions. As the club continues to establish itself, investing in quality equipment is an important part of creating a strong and lasting identity.
An image of one of the new boards is seen on the right. We hope they will serve the club well for many years to come.
New Banner, Club Identity & Publicity
As the club continues to
grow and establish itself
within the local community,
we are pleased to announce
the purchase of a branded
Warndon Chess Club roller
banner (seen right and in
above images).
The banner is displayed
alongside the administration
desk at the back of the room
and will help strengthen the club's identity, create a more professional appearance for visitors, and provide a recognisable focal point within the venue. It will also be useful for future events, competitions and clubs visiting us for matches.
